Thanks to a planing width of 22 mm and 260 mm and a planing height of 5 mm and 160 mm, the four-sided planer T90 can be used for a wide variety of tasks and - by virtue of its solid design - delivers perfect results all round. Whether in joinery where large and small cross cuts are made in large numbers or in interior furnishing where perfect surfaces are needed every time. Whether you're planing on four sides or need to cut a few running metres of glued profiles – with the T90 you can do all work within a very short time without the need for complex retooling work.The planing width and height are set by electric motors, and the variable feed control enables the operating speed to be varied between 4 and 25 m/min. This ensures optimum adjustment depending on the material being planed and the desired quality of the cut. The automatic collision control is an other solution patented by MARTIN. It avoids problems from oversized workpieces and monitors the arbors at all times to prevent damage of the machine and tooling.
The uncomplicated yet very efficient electronics allow you to enter the exact workpiece dimensions in plain text. Radius correction is fully integrated. The tools are exactly positioned straight away, so that the workpieces are not planed by "trial and error". Up to 100 sets of dimensions can be saved in the four-sided planer's controller and called up quickly and easily as required. This enables you to run even complex dimension sequences conveniently, and the integrated hourmeter greatly simplifies the accurate order billing.
Typically MARTIN: all the main switches and displays are centrally arranged so that all important adjustment work, such as control of the application pressure and feed, can be performed from a central control panel. Instead of pressing a star-delta switch, a single push of a button is all that's needed, because the built-in logic ensures that the planing arbors start up in automatic order. And for safety, the motors are slowed down electrically within a few seconds and without wear.
The T90 eliminates complex and time-consuming head changing, because profiling cutters are installed quickly and easily directly into the TERSA solid steel arbors. The two vertical cutterblocks and the thicknessing arbor each have two dovetail grooves for this. These can be fitted with all possible profiles, from chamfer and rounding cutters through to custom-made special profile cutters. All cutters are matched to the cutting circle, so that the position of the heads in the machine never has to be changed and you make huge tooling time gains. This allows the four-sided planer to be very quickly converted from pure planing to profiling by using specially developed adjustment gauges. Changing back again is even easier. Just pull the profile cutters out of the grooves and that's it!
The large bearing distance of the dynamically balanced TERSA solid steel arbors (Z4) ensure a perfect planing profile. The spindle and head are a single part made of solid steel, so that there is no need to eliminate additional play, e.g. by hydraulic clamping. The results are tools that run smoothly and optimum surfaces. The fast cutter change with a positive cutter fit and clamping via centrifugal force ensure minimum tooling times. The TERSA cutterblocks can also be used as 2-cutter arbors by using the supplied dummy cutters.
All the machine's moving parts are supplied with oil via the standard central lubrication pump; the arbor bearings only have to be lubricated with long-term grease every 600 operating hours. This reduces maintenance work on the machine to a minimum. The patented automatic lubrication ensures even and precise wetting of the lumber being planed. This ensures smooth operation even when planing extremely resinous boards, and the optional air cushion table T9014 is available for very wet boards or when lubricant cannot be used
